Assist Minds ("we", "us") connects customers with independent experts for tech support and home engineering guidance. This policy describes what we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices and rights you have.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store passwords in plain text.
- Conversation content: the questions you submit, your intake answers, chat messages, and any files or images you choose to share with an expert. Files are stored privately and are only reachable by you and authorized staff.
- Subscription and payment records: your plan, billing status, amounts, dates, and renewal or cancellation history. Card and bank details are handled entirely by our payment processor (PayPal) and never touch our servers; we receive only a token and the transaction result.
- Scheduling details: the time you book a session, so we can connect you with an expert at that time.
- Limited technical data: minimal logs needed to keep the service secure and reliable (for example to enforce rate limits and detect abuse).
How we use it
- To run your sessions and route your request to the right expert.
- To manage your subscription, process payments and refunds, and prevent fraud.
- To send transactional email: receipts, renewal and cancellation notices, password resets, email verification, and service notices. We do not send marketing email without separate consent.
- To keep the service secure (rate limiting, abuse detection, and security logging).
Cookies
We use only first-party, essential cookies: session cookies that keep you signed in. We run no third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Payment pages may set cookies from PayPal when you pay.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Conversation content is visible to the expert handling your request and to our operations staff for quality and safety. Payment data is shared with PayPal solely to process your subscription, payments, and refunds. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
How we protect your data
- Traffic is encrypted in transit, and passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
- Access to conversations and accounts is gated by authenticated, role-based controls; one customer can never reach another customer's data.
- Uploaded files are stored under unguessable paths and served only to authorized parties.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account and conversation history while your account is active so you can refer back to past sessions. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data and conversation history, except records we are required to keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons (for example a minimal record of payments).
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (including under the California Consumer Privacy Act and CPRA), you have the right to:
- Access and portability: request a copy of your data. You can download your data directly from My Account at any time.
- Deletion: delete your account and associated personal data from My Account, or by contacting us.
- Correction: update your name or email from your profile.
- No sale or sharing: we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request you cannot complete in the app, email support@assistminds.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Assist Minds is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
